Maforga:

Maforga Missions Centre (MMC), located near Gondola MZ, is the perfect setting for GP as we support the work of this incredible ministry. MMC was established by Roy & Trish Perkins in 1985 during the height of the civil war in MZ. The war ended in 1992 but the process of rebuilding continues today and Maforga is a huge part of that in the central area. The centre includes an orphanage, primary school, secondary school, technical school, medical clinic, baby clinic, and church. And this does not even begin to touch the ministries they are involved in throughout the region. Presently, there are 9 couples/families living at Maforga as missionaries and the stories of God’s protection and provision will become unforgettable memories for those that join us.

Roy and Trish were married in 1985, and spent their honeymoon in the shambles of a hotel in Beira, MZ, the likes of which only Trish can describe. Soon there after they moved out of the city to a farm (which became Maforga) where they began ministering to the locals and finding any opportunity to serve them. The needs were overwhelming in the devastating war ravaged country and so Roy and Trish just began reaching out and watching the Lord provide for them so that they could provide for the people. The stories of attacks, ambushes and kidnappings during that time are testimonies that only Roy and Trish can adequately express. Yet, through it all they constantly recognize the awesome providence and power of God as He provided and protected them through this time. As the war ended and the doors to MZ were opened in 1992, new faces and finances began to rise up to join them in their ministry to the region. Giving glory to God with every step they took, they began to see a hopeful desire return to the people of MZ and with it an openness to the Gospel. Now, having been successful at creating a facility that blesses the community while teaching students the skills to be effective in society, they are looking to spread the concept of Maforga into other regions within MZ.
